Spahn & Rose to Acquire Whit Davis Lumber Plus
Spahn & Rose Lumber Co. has entered into an agreement to acquire Whit Davis Lumber Plus, a building materials supplier with three central Arkansas locations in Jacksonville, Cabot and Greenbrier. The deal is set to close June 20, with stores reopening as part of the Spahn & Rose network on June 23.
Whit Davis Lumber Plus will retain its name and local management following the transition. Troy Hunter, current president, will continue to lead the business.
“Whit Davis Lumber Plus is everything you hope to find in a partner—deeply rooted in its community, fiercely loyal to its customers and committed to doing things the right way,” said Spahn & Rose CEO Dave Davis. “Their decades of service and strong family leadership make them a natural fit for the Spahn & Rose family, and we’re honored to have them join us.”
Founded in 1953 by Whit and Miriam Davis, Whit Davis Lumber Plus has served contractors and homeowners throughout the region for more than 70 years. The acquisition marks another step in Spahn & Rose’s expansion into the Southeast.
“This transition is an exciting step forward for our company, our employees and our customers,” said Hunter. “Spahn & Rose shares our deep commitment to customer relationships and employee growth, and they bring additional resources that will allow us to serve our customers and communities even better.”
Dan Davis, representing the founding Davis family, cited the alignment of values as a key factor in the decision to sell. “Their team consistently emphasized the importance of culture, and they mirror the values and beliefs we’ve held dear since my grandfather started the business,” he said.
The Whit Davis acquisition follows Spahn & Rose’s recent Southeastern growth, including Metro Building Products in Marietta, Georgia (2021), Still Lumber in Conyers, Georgia (2022), and City Lumber in Huntsville, Alabama (2023). It becomes the sixth major addition to Spahn & Rose’s footprint in recent years.
Headquartered in Dubuque, Iowa, Spahn & Rose currently operates 28 locations across Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin, Georgia and Alabama. With the addition of Whit Davis, the company further extends its presence across the Southeast.
