Eugene True Value Hardware Marks 100 Years in October

Eugene True Value Hardware will celebrate its 100th anniversary this October, joining the Hardware Connection Century Club and marking a century of service to the Eugene, Ore., community. The store, founded in 1925 by the MacLaren family, has been a fixture in the city and today continues under the ownership of the White family.
Lucy and Terry White purchased the business in 1981 from Lucy’s father, and the store is now managed with help from their son Doug, who serves as assistant store manager. Over the decades, Eugene True Value has adapted to major changes in the retail landscape, including the arrival of big-box competitors, the growth of e-commerce, and shifts in how customers approach DIY projects.

Despite those challenges, the store has maintained its neighborhood identity, offering key cutting, glass cutting, lock rekeying, and paint color matching alongside a full range of hardware supplies for homeowners and professionals. Its location on Willamette Street remains a familiar landmark for generations of residents.
From Oct. 3 to 5, centennial celebrations will include a weekend of events, community gatherings, and special offers. “We’ll continue delivering the friendly service and expertise Eugene has counted on for 100 years—while we keep evolving to meet today’s needs,” says Doug White, assistant store manager.
The anniversary weekend festivities will highlight how the store has remained family-run through changing times and signals the Whites’ intent to keep Eugene True Value a stable part of the local retail landscape.
