DIB Truck Do it Best Group Accelerates Distribution Optimization Plan, Relocates Montgomery, N.Y., Distribution Center

Do it Best Group announced it is moving ahead of schedule on a multi-phase distribution center optimization plan designed to strengthen its supply chain across the Do it Best and True Value networks.

The plan includes distribution footprint changes, including the relocation of operations from the Montgomery, N.Y., distribution center into existing space in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., where a new hub known as Hanover will be established. The relocation includes the distribution center operations over the next couple of years. Company officials said the regional lumber team will continue to maintain a presence in the Montgomery, N.Y., area during and after the transition.

In addition, True Value operations will transition out of the Atlanta distribution center earlier than previously planned, with volume redistributed to other facilities within the network as part of the integration effort.

“This work builds the supply chain our store owners will need for the future,” said Dan Starr, CEO of Do it Best and True Value. “We took the time to study our network carefully, and we’re confident in the plan we’re executing. Just as important, I’m incredibly proud of our teams who are carrying this out with professionalism, care, and a relentless focus on serving our dealers.”

This initiative follows a third-party analysis of current and future distribution center capacity and routing needs, with an emphasis on scalability, operational efficiency and maintaining high service levels for member stores. As integration work continues between Do it Best and True Value, the company said the changes position the combined organization to handle increased volume without sacrificing fill rates or reliability.

CEO Dan Starr emphasized that the plan is growth-driven and proactive rather than reactive. He said transitions are being phased deliberately to protect service continuity and maintain strong fill rates during execution.

For independent hardware store owners in the Do it Best/True Value network, the changes signal continued network capacity alignment aimed at supporting higher volume, broader assortments and long-term supply chain stability as the two organizations further integrate, according to a Do it Best Group press release.

“Our members and retailers count on us to think long term,” Starr said. “These transitions strengthen our ability to serve them reliably and competitively, and they reinforce Do it Best Group as a strong, dependable home improvement partner, not just today but well into the future.”
