Tractor Supply Expands Tool Assortment With SKIL Launch, Electrical Reset

Tractor Supply Co. is making a significant push into project-driven categories with the launch of SKIL Power Tools and a major expansion of its electrical assortment, moves aimed at better serving DIYers, hobby farmers and contractors.TS Skil Tractor Supply Expands Tool Assortment With SKIL Launch, Electrical Reset

The Brentwood, Tennessee-based retailer announced earlier in June that it is expanding its truck, tool and hardware categories with more than 30 SKIL tools and accessories available in stores, while adding nearly 200 new products across its electrical department. The company said the initiatives are designed to create a more solutions-based shopping experience for customers tackling repair, maintenance and improvement projects.

The rollout marks another step in Tractor Supply’s efforts to strengthen categories that overlap with traditional hardware retailing. Tractor Supply operates more than 2,600 stores nationwide and has increasingly invested in tools, outdoor power equipment and project-oriented assortments in recent years.

“We continue to see customers taking on more repair, maintenance and improvement projects themselves,” Randall Dodds, senior vice president and general merchandising manager at Tractor Supply, said in a statement. The addition of SKIL and the expanded electrical assortment are intended to provide customers with “trusted brands, simplified shopping and solutions.”

The initial SKIL lineup includes products such as drills, circular saws, impact drivers and staplers, with additional products available online. Tractor Supply also plans to introduce an exclusive SKIL grease gun later this summer. The tools feature a single-battery platform and USB-C charging compatibility.

Beyond power tools, Tractor Supply has reset its electrical aisle with 188 new SKUs spanning wiring devices, testing equipment, power cords, lighting products and fire safety items. Brands featured in the expanded assortment include Klein Tools, Leviton, GE, Kidde and Coast. The retailer said the updated merchandising strategy organizes products around project-based solutions to simplify shopping and improve product discovery.

The move continues Tractor Supply’s recent expansion of national brands in key categories. In recent years, the company has added brands including Bosch and Dremel, while earlier this year it rolled out Weber products nationwide.

As retailers across the home improvement channel compete for project-focused customers, expanded assortments in tools and electrical categories remain an important battleground. Tractor Supply’s latest investments signal continued interest in capturing a larger share of repair, maintenance and home improvement spending among rural and DIY consumers.
