New DIY CON Expo Brings Maker Culture to Dallas in November 2026

DIYers and home-improvement enthusiasts will have a new destination in 2026 with the debut of DIY CON, a hands-on, experience-driven event designed for makers of all skill levels. Organized by RX, the company behind large fan-focused gatherings such as NHS Concept to Commerce, New York Comic Con and Star Wars Celebration, the inaugural DIY CON will take place November 6–8, 2026, at the Dallas Convention Center in Dallas, Texas. The event aims to bring together hobbyists, homeowners, renters, creators, and professional makers for three days of workshops, demonstrations, community meetups, and interactive product experiences.

Recent industry data suggest the DIY movement remains strong: as of late 2024 more than half of U.S. homeowners report tackling home-improvement, maintenance, or repair projects themselves, many citing cost savings and a desire for self-sufficiency, according to recent Farnsworth Group research

At the same time, the rising influence of the Right to Repair legislation — which seeks to guarantee consumer access to parts, tools, and documentation — is reinforcing that do-it-yourself spirit, enabling more homeowners and renters to confidently perform repairs and renovations themselves rather than outsourcing or replacing.

Paint and Wall Treatments at DIY CON will give attendees a hands-on space to practice techniques, test products, and build confidence with real-world materials as part of the event’s themed workshop zones.

The Rise of Hands-On DIY Events

DIY CON is positioned as an immersive alternative to traditional trade shows. Rather than relying on passive browsing, the format encourages attendees to actively participate in sessions and test tools and materials on the show floor. RX describes the event as a celebration of modern DIY culture and the growing number of consumers who prefer to tackle home projects themselves. The show reflects the continued influence of millennial and Gen Z homeowners and renters, who are driving demand for accessible education, creator-led instruction, and hands-on learning opportunities.

Programming for the 2026 launch includes a mix of beginner-friendly classes, advanced build sessions, and maker meetups intended to foster collaboration and mentorship. Workshops will cover a wide range of home-improvement topics, while thematic zones throughout the floor will offer focused opportunities for skill development. Areas such as Paint & Wall Treatments, Storage & Organization, Outdoor Living, Living Spaces, Kids Zone, and Tool Shed will allow attendees to explore specific categories and experiment with materials before making purchasing decisions.

Interactive Exhibits and Creator-Led Learning

DIY CON will also host keynote presentations featuring well-known DIY creators who will share their project journeys and insights into emerging trends. These sessions are designed to showcase practical techniques as well as the personal stories behind popular projects, tapping into the growing creator economy that influences consumer preferences in the home-improvement space. Celebrity meet-and-greet opportunities with TV personalities and home-renovation figures are also planned.

Brands exhibiting at DIY CON will offer interactive product experiences rather than static displays. Attendees will be encouraged to test tools, explore new technologies, and participate in guided demos intended to build confidence and familiarity. With an emphasis on real-world problem solving, organizers say the goal is to help consumers bridge the gap between aspiration and action when approaching home projects.

The launch of DIY CON comes at a time when the DIY sector continues to evolve. A combination of economic pressures, a shift toward smaller-scale home projects, and the lasting impact of the pandemic-era home-improvement boom has kept interest high in learning practical skills. At the same time, online creators have influenced how consumers research, plan, and execute projects, leading to increased demand for community-based educational experiences.

By combining hands-on instruction, creator-led learning, and interactive brand engagement, DIY CON aims to establish itself as a central gathering point for the next generation of makers and home-improvement enthusiasts. The 2026 event is set to provide a platform where creativity, community, and practical skill-building converge, giving attendees access to resources and connections that support both everyday repairs and more ambitious DIY goals.
