Do it Best Group has appointed Marianne Thompson as executive vice president of transformation and integration.

Do it Best Group has appointed Marianne Thompson as executive vice president of transformation and integration, a newly created position aimed at steering the next phase of strategic alignment following its acquisitions of True Value and United Hardware.

The appointment marks a significant step in Do it Best Group’s ongoing efforts to unify operations, streamline systems, and strengthen service for independent hardware dealers. Thompson will lead the execution of the integration strategy, ensuring a cohesive transition across the organization while maintaining a sharp focus on dealer success.

Thompson brings more than 35 years of industry leadership, including senior executive roles at Home Hardware Stores Limited, one of Canada’s largest independent home improvement retailers. Her experience spans merchandising, marketing, logistics, and operations, and includes managing teams of more than 2,300. Known for her ability to lead cross-functional teams through complex transitions, she has successfully delivered results in multi-brand cooperative environments.

“This new role reinforces our commitment to leveraging everything we’ve built—our scale, our partnerships, and our relentless focus on independent dealers—to drive growth for our members and retailers,” said Dan Starr, CEO of Do it Best and True Value. “Thompson’s extensive leadership and integration experience will ensure that we don’t just merge operations—we unlock our fullest potential.”

In her new role, Thompson will oversee the unification of corporate strategies, technologies, and cultures across all three brands. Her work will prioritize seamless operations, increased efficiency, and clear communication with retailers, customers, and stakeholders throughout the process.

“Marianne shares our vision and passion for supporting the success of independent dealers in their local communities,” said Do it Best president Nick Talarico. “She brings a unique ability to balance operational excellence with the long-term needs of our store owners.”

True Value president Dent Johnson added: “Her leadership will be instrumental in this momentous strategic transformation to deliver the alignment of corporate strategies, systems, and cultures to ensure seamless operations and business continuity.”

“I am honored to take on this critical role during such an exciting time of transformation, integration, and growth,” Thompson said. “Together, we will create a seamless, high-performing organization built around the needs of our dealers and positioned for long-term success.”
