Ace Hardware expands on-demand delivery through Uber Eats partnership

Ace Hardware is expanding its on-demand delivery capabilities through a new partnership with Uber Technologies Inc., bringing more than 3,700 U.S. stores onto the Uber Eats platform.
The integration, announced April 7, allows customers to order a range of home improvement products—from tools and paint to lawn and garden supplies—for same-day or scheduled delivery through the app. The rollout spans all 50 states and reflects a broader shift in how consumers source project materials, particularly for immediate or last-minute needs.
For Ace, the move extends an ongoing push to meet customers across multiple digital touchpoints while maintaining its store-based model, as presented by Ace CEO John Venhuizen at the Spring Convention in Louisville. Bill Kiss, head of digital at Ace Hardware, said the partnership builds on the cooperative’s neighborhood presence by adding another layer of convenience for shoppers seeking faster fulfillment options.
“Ace is built on a network of locally-owned stores that are deeply rooted in the communities they serve, and partnering with Uber allows us to meet our customers wherever they are,” said Bill Kiss, Head of Digital at Ace Hardware. “Whether they’re tackling a last-minute project or planning ahead, our customers now have greater access to fast, flexible solutions for getting the products they need delivered right to their doorstep.”
The agreement also highlights continued expansion of retail categories on Uber Eats, which has moved beyond restaurant delivery in recent years. The company added more than 50,000 retail locations in the U.S. in 2025, positioning the platform as a destination for everyday items across categories such as home improvement, electronics and personal care.
“Consumers are increasingly turning to Uber Eats for more than just meals. They rely on us for a variety of essentials, from paint supplies, to mulch for the garden, to the tools needed to kick off a weekend yard cleanup,” said Hashim Amin, Head of Grocery and Retail for Uber in North America. “We’re proud to welcome Ace Hardware’s extensive network and loyal customers to our platform as we continue to expand the selection available to shoppers on Uber Eats.”
For independent hardware store owners, the partnership signals growing competition—and opportunity—in the race to provide rapid delivery. While many retailers have invested in buy online, pick up in-store (BOPIS) and local delivery programs, third-party platforms offer an additional channel to capture demand tied to urgency and convenience.
The service is now live, with users able to browse participating Ace locations, select products and track deliveries in real time through the app.
