House-Hasson Hardware Names New VP of Human Resources

Lysette Aviles

House-Hasson Hardware has hired Lysette Aviles as the company’s new vice president of human resources. She will implement personnel systems and processes for the benefit of House-Hasson employees and independent hardware store and lumberyard dealer customers, said Steve Henry, president and CEO of House-Hasson, America’s largest independent regional hardware distributor.

“We have nearly 500 employees in our operations in Knoxville and Prichard, W. Va.,” Henry said. “Our human resources component—now and in the future—is of critical importance to meet the needs of our team members who serve our independent hardware store and lumberyard dealers. Their profitability is our purpose.”

“Lysette is an experienced, forward-thinking professional, and we’re excited to see all that she’ll accomplish in her role,” Henry added.

Aviles comes to House-Hasson after serving four years as human resources director for the Knox County Sheriff’s Office. Prior to her work in law enforcement, she was an executive for 14 years with Scripps Network Interactive.

Aviles will oversee all House-Hasson HR functions. Among her supervisory responsibilities are recruitment, hiring, onboarding, employee engagement, compliance and multiple other HR functions.

“I’m excited to be part of the House-Hasson team,” Aviles said. “House-Hasson has accomplished amazing things for dealers that depend on it. An immediate priority for me is employee recruiting and retention, making sure our employees are well taken care of so they

can take care of our dealers.

“In the coming months, we’ll roll out several initiatives to better prepare House-Hasson for the future, as we anticipate accelerated growth in the company’s dealer base.”

A native of Puerto Rico, Aviles came to the U.S. with her family when she was 15. After graduating from high school, she attended Florida International University, in North Miami, Fla., earning a bachelor of science in communications.

Aviles worked for eight years in logistics and administration with 20th Century Fox in Los Angeles, before moving to Tennessee in 2004 to join Scripps Network and HGTV. During her 14 years at Scripps, Aviles was in various leadership roles in human resources and business and legal affairs. Aviles became the Knox County Sheriff’s Office HR director in 2019. She lives in Knoxville with her husband, David.

House-Hasson Hardware serves more than 2,500 independent hardware store and lumberyard dealers in 23 states and the Caribbean.
