Aubuchon Company to Acquire Wyoming Ace Hardware, Expand Footprint into Rhode Island

The Aubuchon Company has announced plans to acquire Wyoming Ace Hardware in Wyoming, Rhode Island. Following the acquisition, the store will be relocated to a nearby former Walgreens pharmacy in Richmond, R.I., and will operate under the name Aubuchon Ace Hardware.

The sale, which is expected to close on October 31, marks Aubuchon’s first location in Rhode Island. Once finalized, the company will operate 131 hardware stores across 11 states.

Wyoming Ace Hardware was founded in 2003 by Rick Osborne, who opened the store to meet a long-standing local need. After more than 22 years, Osborne plans to retire.

“It’s been an incredible journey building this store and serving the town I’ve been proud to call home,” Osborne said. “I want to sincerely thank every customer who supported us and every team member who worked alongside me.”

Aubuchon Company president and CEO William E. Aubuchon IV expressed appreciation for Osborne’s community-centered approach. “Rick built Wyoming Ace Hardware with heart, purpose, and a deep connection to the community,” Aubuchon said. “We’re honored to carry that spirit forward.”

The new Richmond location will continue serving the surrounding community and retain a team built on the same values Osborne emphasized.

Founded in 1908, the Aubuchon Company operates under a number of regional banners, including Aubuchon Hardware, Lyndonville Ace Hardware, Bibens Ace Hardware, Martin’s Hardware & Building Supply, and others.

Additional details about the transition and store opening timeline are expected later this year.
