Beacon Awards, Inaugural IHI Conference Celebrate Independent Retailers
Hardware professionals gathered at the JW Marriott in Marco Island, for a blend of networking, education, and celebrations.
More than 750 independent hardware store owners and industry professionals gathered in Marco Island, Fla., August 27-29 for the inaugural Independent Home Improvement (IHI) Conference, which featured over 55 vendor exhibitors, dozens of educational sessions, and many opportunities to connect. The event provided a prime opportunity for networking and professional development, bringing together retailers, manufacturers, distributors, and channel partners to share insights and strategies for success in the independent hardware and home improvement sector
The IHI Conference showcased industry-unique collaborations on several levels. One example, the IHI Conference is a singular event of The Hardware Conference and the National Hardware and Paint Association (NHPA). In August 2023, NHPA hosted its first Independents Conference in Dallas. Just a few weeks later, The Hardware Conference marked its 35th anniversary in Marco Island, Fl.
Another first-of-its-kind collaboration was the Celebration of Independents sponsored by Orgill with entertainment provided by Do it Best.
Beachfront Party for Retailers
A standout moment of the IHI Conference was the August 28 evening “Celebration of Independents.” Following a full day of educational sessions and networking, attendees were invited to a beach-themed event that celebrated the hard work and dedication of independent retailers. With Orgill hosting the event and Do it Best providing music and entertainment, the evening featured indoor and outdoor activities, food buffets, drinks, and live music.
