Austin Huskey, Huskey Building Supply CEO, Dies in Colorado Plane Crash
Austin Huskey, CEO of Huskey Building Supply headquartered in Franklin, Tenn., was among the four victims identified following a small plane crash near Steamboat Springs, Colo., authorities confirmed Feb. 15. The aircraft went down while approaching the airport in mountainous terrain. The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the cause of the crash.
Huskey, 38, was a third-generation leader of the family-owned building supply company. He had served as CEO and was recognized in recent industry awards for his contributions to the lumber and building materials industry.
In a statement shared on the company’s Instagram account, Huskey Building Supply wrote, “With heavy hearts, we grieve the unexpected passing of our CEO, Austin Huskey. Austin was a fearless leader, a gracious man, a devoted father and husband, and a faithful follower of Christ.”
The company said Huskey continued his family’s legacy through “generosity and ingenuity,” guiding the business during a period of economic uncertainty while investing in growth initiatives, including a new luxury design showroom. The statement described him as a leader who valued listening and empowerment, noting that he “placed a premium on listening to every person under his stewardship and empowering them to grow and succeed.”
Huskey Building Supply indicated that Taylor Huskey and the broader leadership team remain committed to continuing operations and honoring his legacy, stating they will maintain “an unwavering commitment to excellence in serving all of our customers and vendor partners.”
Huskey was widely respected within the building materials community, with industry peers and partners sharing condolences and reflecting on his leadership and personal character.
