Orgill Concept Center Nears Completion, Slated for Q2 Opening
In November, Orgill provided Hardware Connection with an exclusive tour of its new Concept Center, which is expected to open in Q2 2025. The 500,000-square-foot facility is designed to test retail concepts, showcase product categories, and host training sessions and events. Key features include mock stores for testing merchandising strategies, collaborative workspaces for staff and vendors, and an outdoor area for product demonstrations. The Concept Center aims to provide a practical environment for exploring and refining retail strategies, with the goal of supporting retailers in meeting the evolving demands of their customers.
“Independent retailers are the heart of our industry,” Orgill President and CEO Boyden Moore said as part of a recent discussion about the company’s growth initiatives. “The Concept Center enables us to work alongside our customers to identify the solutions and tools they need to stay competitive and successful.”
The following photos show the construction progress during the past year and include images from Orgill videos and the November tour with Hardware Connection:
Orgill Concept Center Overview
Orgill’s new Concept Center in Collierville, Tenn., spans 500,000 square feet, significantly larger than its previous 250,000-square-foot facility in Olive Branch, Miss. It is designed to serve as a retail laboratory for independent hardware retailers and a place for retailers and manufacturers to connect and learn about new products and trends.
Construction Kickoff in Collierville, Tennessee
Orgill broke ground on the new Concept Center in 2023. After the construction started, Greg Stine, Orgill’s executive vice president of marketing and communications, shared this video of an initial walk through of the facility’s layout. This and several other in-progress videos highlight the scale and scope of this ambitious project adjacent to Orgill’s Collierville, Tenn., corporate headquarters.
Massive Scale Shown During Building Process
Throughout the year Stine has provided monthly updates about the progress of Orgill’s new Concept Center. His reports have detailed key milestones, including the completion of the glass-enclosed lobby, collaborative workspaces, and vendor review areas. In a video earlier in the year, Stine highlighted the sheer scale of construction materials required, with steel posts, beams, and rafters supporting a roof that now spans half a million square feet.
Home for Real-World Retail Hardware Laboratory
This facility enables the creation of full-scale mock stores, allowing for the testing of retail concepts, product categories, and merchandising strategies. Beyond product testing, the center functions as a multifunctional space for hosting customer events, vendor conferences, and industry meetings, providing retailers with tailored, proven solutions to enhance their operations.
Versatile Outdoor Space for Retailer Engagement
The outdoor patio at Orgill’s new Concept Center is designed to accommodate product demonstrations, training sessions, and retailer gatherings. This space provides a practical area for hands-on learning and testing, allowing retailers and vendors to explore product applications in a real-world environment. Its inclusion highlights the focus on versatility and functionality within the facility’s design.
Retail Services, Tech Teams Centralized
The new Concept Center will bring together Orgill’s Retail Services and technology teams, unifying operations previously spread across multiple locations. The Retail Services workspace is designed to promote collaboration among staff while providing a professional environment for visiting customers and vendors. Additionally, the facility will house a dedicated technology area, including a specialized “Cyber Room” for security engineers. This centralized approach enhances teamwork, streamlines operations, and supports the growing needs of Orgill’s internal teams and external partners.
Center Lobby Highlights Heritage and Hospitality
The Concept Center’s lobby and mezzanine will serve as welcoming and functional spaces. The lobby features a central reception desk and is designed to maximize natural light, creating an open and inviting atmosphere. Above, the mezzanine will house a display of Orgill’s historical artifacts, blending the company’s rich heritage with its forward-looking design.
Executive Conference Room Offers Board Meetings with a View
Also on the mezzanine level is a conference room for board meetings and executive gatherings that will feature state-of-the-art technology, integrated food service, and panoramic views of the Concept Center.
Collaborative Spaces Boost Vendor-Retailer Interactions
The Concept Center will feature a dedicated area for vendor line reviews, designed to streamline the process of evaluating and selecting products. This space includes four large private rooms where vendors can set up displays to showcase their offerings and compete for business. Adjacent conference rooms and collaborative spaces will support discussions and planning, creating a professional environment for interactions between Orgill staff, vendors, and visiting retailers.
Hardware Connection to Cover Concept Center Launch in 2025
Orgill’s new Concept Center is set to open sometime in Q2 2025, marking a significant milestone for the company’s operations. The state-of-the-art facility will serve as a hub for testing retail concepts, vendor line reviews, and collaborative workspaces for staff and partners. Hardware Connection will continue to provide updates and in-depth coverage as the project nears completion, offering a closer look at how the facility will enhance Orgill’s ability to support retailers and vendors.
