HDA’s Executive Planning Conference Showcases New Vendors, Honors Industry Innovation
The Hardlines Distribution Alliance (HDA) celebrated two decades of fostering collaboration and innovation at its 20th annual Executive Planning Conference (EPC) as the event concluded on November 21. Held at the Westin La Paloma in Tucson, Ariz., the event highlighted the contributions of new and veteran vendors while providing distributors and suppliers with opportunities to strengthen relationships, explore new products, and strategize for the coming year.
Spotlight on New Vendors
A key feature of this year’s conference was the introduction of the New Vendor Showcase, offering first-time participants a platform to display their products and marketing materials. The showcase preceded the event’s golf scramble and gave vendors a valuable opportunity to engage with distributors in an informal setting before diving into scheduled meetings.
“It was an incredible experience showcasing SILIGUN at the HDA event,” said Amir Nakash, CEO of SILIGUN. “The energy, organization, and opportunities for collaboration exceeded our expectations and have created momentum for future partnerships.”
Packed Agenda with Networking Opportunities
The conference blended formal meetings with casual networking events. Attendees participated in pre-scheduled 20-minute meetings, where vendors discussed product launches, marketing initiatives, and long-term objectives with distributors. These sessions, held on Wednesday and Thursday, formed the cornerstone of the conference, allowing attendees to maximize their time.
Recreational activities like a golf scramble provided additional networking opportunities. Prizes and a hole-in-one contest added excitement to the day.
Themed events also played a significant role, including a “How the West Was Fun” reception sponsored by the National Hardware Show (NHS). Attendees dressed in western attire and enjoyed line dancing, mechanical bull riding, and comfort food, fostering camaraderie among participants.
Recognition of Excellence
During an awards luncheon on Wednesday, HDA announced the winners of six awards, including three new honors recognizing innovation, philanthropy, and vendor support.
• Most Innovative Product of the Year – Work IQ Tools
• Excellence in Philanthropy – Spec Ops Tools
• Outstanding Show Support from a New Vendor – Billy-Bob Products
Additionally, Highline Warren, Apex Tool Group and DAP Global Inc. were named 2024 Suppliers of the Year.
Looking Ahead to 2025 Conference
HDA’s conference concluded with a farewell reception.
“The EPC is the perfect blend of business and camaraderie as we prepare for an exciting 2025,” said Sarah Lee, vice president of purchasing at Blish-Mize Co.
