Do it Best, True Value Commit $110,000 to California Wildfire Relief

Do it Best donated $100,000 to the American Red Cross, and True Value has given $10,000 to Boys & Girls Clubs of America while helping the Orlandini family restore Altadena Hardware.

In response to the devastating wildfires affecting Altadena and surrounding areas, Do it Best and True Value have pledged $110,000 to support disaster relief and community recovery efforts.

The Do it Best Foundation will contribute $100,000 to the American Red Cross to provide essential aid, including shelter, food and emergency supplies for displaced families. Additionally, True Value and the True Value Foundation will donate $10,000 to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America to assist the more than 81,000 club members and their families affected by the fires.

“Supporting our communities is a cornerstone of our mission,” says Dan Starr, CEO of Do it Best and True Value. “Through these contributions, we’re proud to deliver meaningful aid while standing with those working tirelessly to recover and rebuild.”

The wildfires have left widespread destruction, including the loss of Altadena Hardware, a longstanding True Value store owned by the Orlandini family. To help the community regain access to essential supplies, Do it Best and True Value are working closely with the Orlandinis to establish a temporary retail location. Plans include securing a nearby vacant space or using trailers and tents to provide immediate service. Additional support includes the rapid deployment of critical hardware supplies, financial relief measures such as pausing invoices and canceling future orders and a $5,000 mobile point-of-sale system from Epicor to ensure seamless transactions.

“Our focus is on delivering the resources and supporting the Orlandini family and their community, which needs to rebuild quickly and effectively,” says Chris Okapal, vice president of sales and business development for True Value. “We are committed to helping them reopen their doors, whether in a temporary or permanent capacity, as soon as possible.”
