Big-Name Speakers, Big Fun as Retailers Hit the Beach at IHI
The Independent Home Improvement (IHI) Conference 2024 promises to be a remarkable event filled with insightful keynote presentations, valuable networking opportunities, and a celebratory atmosphere.
This August, the IHI will be held at the picturesque JW Marriott Marco Island Beach Resort in Marco Island, Fla. Scheduled for August 27-29, this event promises to bring together more than 600 independent retailers and 100 manufacturers, distributors, and channel partners. The conference, which is produced by the North American Hardware and Paint Association in collaboration with The Hardware Conference, aims to foster networking, education, and celebration within the home improvement industry.
With keynote speakers such as Daniel “Rudy” Ruettiger. Al Comeaux and Arthur Greeno, attendees can be inspired and equipped with strategies for their business. The conference will host award ceremonies, including the Beacon Awards, Young Retailer of the Year and Top Gun Award.
Distributor sponsors Orgill and Do it Best will also host a beach bash celebration to recognize the hard work and dedication of independent retailers.

Daniel “Rudy” Ruettiger—The inspiration behind the movie “Rudy,” Ruettiger, will share his motivational journey on August 29 at 3 p.m. His presentation, “Unleash Your Inner Rudy: Embrace Resilience & Make Every Second Count,” promises to inspire attendees to live with purpose and passion.
Al Comeaux—A former executive at Travelocity, GE, and American Airlines, Comeaux brings decades of experience in organizational change. He is the author of “Change (the) Management” and will discuss “Mastering Change: Cultivating Mindset for Lasting Success” on August 28 at 12:45 p.m., focusing on how AI drives change across industries.
Arthur Greeno—Greeno is a Chick-fil-A restaurateur in Tulsa, Okla., who has built a successful business known for its exceptional company culture. He is also an author and philanthropist. Greeno’s keynote, “What’s in the Sauce? Customer Service Secrets from Chick-fil-A,” will be presented on August 29 at 12:30 p.m.

A highlight of the conference will be the beach-themed Celebration of Independents on August 28, hosted by Orgill and sponsored by Do it Best. This evening event will follow a day packed with educational sessions and networking opportunities.
